The mission of the Albuquerque Fire Rescue Behavioral Health Office is to provide comprehensive, multi-faceted behavioral health and prevention services to every firefighter, retiree and their family members. We are committed to the wellness and resiliency of our employees and work to reduce the stigma associated with behavioral health issues in the fire service through providing education, support and resources.
AFR has a dedicated team of members who have been trained in Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Please don’t hesitate to contact team members to ask questions or discuss topics that can be difficult to communicate with people not familiar with firefighting culture.

CHAPLAINCY
It is the primary purpose and mission of the Albuquerque Fire Rescue Chaplaincy to provide care and support for the spiritual and emotional needs of our firefighters and their families. We will stand with our members in times of trauma and crisis and the full spectrum as it relates to both their professional and private lives. Helping to sustain the soul of our department is the main objective of the office of Chaplain. We will foster an inclusive, affirming environment. We will maintain and uphold the dignity and value of each and every one of our members. We believe that faith is an essential dimension of healing and wholeness, regardless of where or in what that faith lies.
In keeping with the unique nature of the fire service, the chaplaincy upholds the conviction of bearing one another’s burdens.
